Seventh Generation [Review]

I got a Seventh Generation sample pack recently and I was super excited!! My family is trying hard to move to a more natural/organic lifestyle - especially since I have two kids who I want to grow up as healthy and environmentally conscious as possible...

Anyway - in the pack was Baby Body Wash & Lotion, Adult Body Wash & Lotion, Laundry Detergent and a Facial Cloth. I've tried everything but the Facial Cloth because I have sensitive skin.

But here is my reviews of the products I did try...

Adult Body Wash & Lotion

When I received this product, I was looking forward to trying it because it was all-natural AND it smelled like Mandarin oranges. I was somewhat disappointed. As far as it’s “soapy” ability – it lathered well and I have no doubts about my cleanliness when getting out of the shower. However, the smell was somewhat off putting. I did not smell like mandarin oranges, and as some one who usually showers with a Bath & Body Works product, I expected a stronger fruit smell. However, I understand that one of the main reasons that people switch to an all natural product like Seventh Generation is to avoid harsh chemicals and scents. If that’s the case, this is definitely the product for you. I just wish they hadn’t advertised a fruity smell that isn’t really there. I really wanted to switch to an all natural body wash, because our household is trying to be more “natural” but I’m not sure I’m ready to commit to this change.

Laundry Detergent

I already make a powder detergent at home with minimal ingredients, so I was excited to see a liquid natural laundry detergent. [The powder can get messy sometimes.] The liquid got out all the usual “kid” stains. The only thing that might turn some people off is the fact that it has no smell. Your clothes come out the laundry smelling like, “clothes” not a garden meadow or rain drops. Also, it works in HE washers.

Baby Body Wash & Lotion

One of the best things about babies are the new baby smell – which is essentially some form of Johnson & Johnson. However, there are a lot of chemicals that go into making those smelly body washes. My household is attempting to go more natural, and I was glad to find an alternative to the mainstream body washes. The soap cleaned well, and left my baby smelling clean without all the extra perfumes. It seemed to have enough moisture in it and didn’t dry out my daughters sensitive skin.

Old Navy:: Beach Style [Review]

Recently, I was invited to do an Old Navy Style Council Beachy Style Event. [Wow - that's a lot to say] I got to invite three friends to go to Old Navy and have a mini fashion session with their new beach styles.

I had a blast at my Old Navy store with my sister and best friend! We started our day off early so we could have time in the store when there wasn't a lot of people. The manager Cory and sales assistant Debbie at the Tyson's Corner Old Navy were extremely helpful.

The selection was great - they had both bikinis and one pieces; both of them in tons of colors and styles.

However, I think that might be because Tyson's Corner has a larger store. I've been to some other Old Navy's that didn't have quite a selection. We very easily found the totes, beach towels, and flip-flops because they were all in the general area. The cover ups were easy to find as well, we saw dresses, skirts, and even really cute cover up shirts (my personal favorite). The only thing that we didn't see until the very end were beach hats, and that's because they were on the bottom of a different display - that didn't have anything to do with the beach stuff.

As far as the fit of the bathing suits the control max one pieces were great for the busty ladies in the group. But we found that the bikinis offered no breast support, which was disappointing.

Overall, it was a great experience. Old Navy was extremely accommodating and the booklet that CrowdTap sent was helpful in making the most of the experience.

**Disclaimer** I am a member of CrowdTap and received a free bathing suit, beach towel, flip-flops, and tote bag for being apart of this Old Navy Style Council event.

Ivory 2-IN-1 [Review]

I was skeptical of this product being a 2in1 because I’m a black girl with natural hair – and I am very particular about my hair [that’s a post all in itself], but I thought it would be perfect for the men in my life. The hubby hates having a million products in the shower, and the little man is learning how to shower all by himself.

The hubby said he liked it – especially because it didn’t smell girly. [I liked that too] The man child was able to use it all by himself, and I didn’t mind if it got in his hair. It also lathered so well that he was able to get soap all over his body with minimal help. Also, he has sensitive skin [having only used Aveeno before this “test”] so I was extremely impressed that it didn’t dry his skin out.

I did still try the product as a 3-in-1: body wash, bubble bath, and shaving cream. As a body wash it was great – lathering well and having a light smell. The bubble bath was just fun [when was the last time you just laid in a tub of bubbles]. As a shaving cream it was AMAZING and I know I’ll continue to use it for that purpose.

Overall, this is product I would buy again.

*Disclaimer* I received this product free from influenster where I am a member. They encourage members to rate products honestly and truthfully – and that is what I have done. I have no direct connection to Ivory or their parent companies.

Welcome Loves

Hey Lovies...

This is just a blog/journal of all the new products that I discover and like.

I'm a member on a lot of websites that allow me to try and test out new products - so I figured I'd start a blog to chronicle it. I also like to go out and find my own products so I'll be sure to talk about those too...

And just so you know my point of view... I am a wife and mommy that likes to cook and craft. I'm also on a mission to make my life natural as possible... and I might have a slight addiction to my phone. :)

Enjoy the ride...[because I am]
